Petition to Continue Mass Effect Surpasses 180,000 Signatures

Mass Effect fans have called on Electronic Arts to preserve the series following the announcement of BioWare's closure and the cancellation of development on the next installment. According to PC Gamer, the #SaveMassEffect petition had received more than 180,000 signatures as of October 25.

The petition's organizers are urging the publisher to ensure that development continues or to grant another studio a license to create new games set in the Mass Effect universe. The campaign is therefore primarily focused on the future of the franchise.

BioWare announced its closure on October 21. At the same time, the studio confirmed that work on the new Mass Effect game had been halted. The number of signatures demonstrates strong audience interest, but it does not, in itself, guarantee that EA will reconsider its decision.
